Sandra & Johnathan

We had the opportunity a couple weeks ago to shoot a wedding for a couple from our church. It was one of those weddings that really sticks with you, not just because it was fun, or beautiful, or unique, all of which it was, but also because we've seen how much God has done in the lives of this couple, and in the lives of their family.

Sandra and Johnathan, we are absolutely thrilled for you and we are so glad that you chose us to photograph your wedding. We look forward to seeing where your life together takes you--enjoy your slideshow!

P.S. The song in your slideshow was written by our friend Tiffany, and it seemed so fitting for your wedding that we just had to share it.

My "little" sister is engaged! Congrats Hannah & Josh!

It all started a few months ago, when my sister's boyfriend, Josh, contacted me to tell me that he wanted to propose to Hannah on Christmas Eve. Inspired by the twelve days of Christmas, he planned to give Hannah one present each day, with the final present being an engagement ring on Christmas Day! We were a little unsure about whether or not he could pull it off since his plane from NY wasn't scheduled to arrive until 11:30pm and he wanted to ask her at my parent's house (which is 45 minutes from the airport). But, he decided to "take the risk" and asked me to create a space for him to ask her.

Anticipation hung in the air at my parent's house on Christmas Day, and as soon as Hannah left for the airport, we all rushed downstairs with candles, chocolates and sparkling cider that I had kept hidden from her. We built a roaring fire, heated up some of Hannah's favorite chai tea (which I'm not even sure they remembered to drink), filled the room with candles, and waited upstairs for Hannah and Josh to return.

They returned to discover "the proposal setup," after which Josh shared a poem that he had written for Hannah, asked her to marry him, she said "yes," and then instructed him that he was supposed to put the ring on her finger. :) Of course, there's more to the story (like my brother trying to listen in on their conversation through the floor vents, and my family crowding into the stairwell waiting for a sign that we could barg in on them), but the main point is that they are getting married and we are so excited for them!

While they were here, we did a quick engagement session at the Seattle Library. Of course, it was cold and rainy, but since Hannah & Josh live in Philadelphia, and we're photographing a wedding in Philly this April (Hi Sharon & Nathaniel!), we plan on getting some fun outdoor shots with them around the Philidelphia too! How lucky are they ?!?! Enjoy!

We couldn't resist taking a photo with them--who knew that Gerald's arms were so long? ;)

Christy & Jon-Married!

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to document Christy & Jon's wedding. Their wedding day felt like one of the coldest, windiest days we've had in the Seattle area in a long time! But, they were not about to let that ruin their day and they sacrificed their fintertips and noses for the sake of getting some sweet shots at Gene Coulon Park. We think you'll all agree that it was totally worth it...

Christy & Jon--Your wedding was beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to witness your special day.

Here's a larger version of your slideshow! :)

Kelly & Patrick's Engagement Session

A couple weeks ago we had a chance to hang out with our new friends, Kelly and Patrick for their Life Engagement Session. We started off at their home in Seattle (which is very cute!)

Our next stop was the Greenlake Bar and Grill, which just happened to be where they had their first date! Before we started shooting though, I talked to the staff there to make sure it was OK. Some places (like Starbucks) don't allow you to take pictures, so it's always nice to be courteous and ask first so no one gets mad at you. :) Well, not only did they let us shoot in there, they also gave Kelly and Patrick a $50 gift certificate! It was so awesome!!!

Right across the street from the restaurant is Green Lake, so we walked around out there as long as we could stand the (seriously) freezing cold weather...poor Kelly is an Australian and not used to our frigid climate.

Next we stopped at this reall cool little bakery called Hiroki's to warm up over a cup of coffee and some yummy cake. If you are looking for a unique and REALLY good cake for your wedding, this is seriously the place to go. It was such a nice break to get out of the cold and wind! Check out the latte he made for us... how do he do that?

We made one last stop in the Capitol Hill area after it got dark for a few nightime photos...

That's it for now...Kelly & Patrick, we are so excited that we get to photograph your wedding in a few short months--thanks for the opportunity! :)
